Responsible Play
Last updated 21 October 2026
RatPool is a game of skill, and pools are a way to play for something. They also mean you can lose your entry. This page is about keeping it fun.
RatPool is for players aged 18 and over. Free Play is always free, and always open.
Keep it a game
- Only stake what you can afford to lose. Treat an entry as the price of a match, never as a way to make money.
- Decide your budget before you play, and stop when it is spent.
- Do not chase losses. Losing a pool does not make the next one more likely to pay.
- Set a time, and take breaks. Short matches add up.
- Do not play to cope with stress, money worries or a bad day.
- Practise in Free Play. It costs nothing and uses the same arena and weapons.
Signs to watch for
- Spending more, or playing for longer, than you meant to.
- Staking money meant for food, rent, bills or someone else.
- Borrowing, or selling things, to keep playing.
- Feeling anxious or irritable when you are not playing.
- Hiding how much you play from people close to you.
If any of these sound familiar, stop playing pools and talk to someone.
Taking a break
You can stop at any time: sign out, or remove the app. Your wallet and its funds stay yours, and Free Play is there whenever you want a match with nothing at stake. Questions? Write to [email protected].
Where to find help

If you are worried about someone else's play, these services can help you too.
